Thriving against the odds

This Tree was inspired by the quiet strength of trees in the Australian outback. If you’ve ever stood in a gorge and looked closely at the trees growing there, you’ll notice something remarkable - their roots winding through rock, pushing into the smallest cracks, finding their way through what seems impossible.

The conditions are harsh. The soil is sparse. And yet, these trees don’t just survive… they thrive.

Over the past year, my creative practice has been changing in ways I never expected. Becoming a Mum of two has been the most beautiful and transformative experience, but it has also challenged how and when I create. Finding time for myself, let alone time to paint, suddenly felt incredibly difficult.

Thats where my 100 Tree Project began, with little time to plan and often painting in short bursts, the project required me to adapt constantly and let go of perfection.

Like the tree growing through the rocks, creativity found its way forward. This piece is a reminder that we can continue to grow and thrive, even when the conditions are far from ideal.

Plus the 6 mini paintings that inspired this piece will also be available through this collection.
