Becoming the new you
Becoming the New You
Becoming the New You is a piece about transformation - the kind that doesn’t erase who you were, but builds gently upon it.
Inspired by the way gum trees shed their bark to reveal a new trunk beneath, this artwork reflects the seasons in our lives where we are asked to let go. Sometimes willingly, sometimes not. Growth often requires shedding old layers - identities, beliefs, versions of ourselves - even when those layers once kept us safe.
For me, this piece is deeply connected to motherhood and the way it reshaped who I am. I didn’t lose myself - I became more of myself, just differently. Changed, but still rooted.
This tree stands as a reminder that becoming someone new doesn’t mean starting over. It means allowing yourself to evolve, honouring who you’ve been, and making space for who you’re becoming.
I hope this artwork feels like permission - to change, to soften, and to trust the unfolding.
Plus the 6 mini paintings that inspired this piece will also be available through this collection.
