Under the Canopy
March 2022
Under the Canopy is a collection of paintings from Nic’s travels along the east coast of Australia. Featuring landscapes from many of the national parks and rainforests in the area, Nic’s attention was drawn to the fragility of our ecosystems despite how essential they are to maintain life, stirring up a meditation on the social ecosystems we live in.
I'm Still Here
March 2022
I'm Still Here is a collection of works drawn from sketches and reference images Nic created while travelling around Australia in 2022. During this trip Nic was involved in a major car accident and was lucky to survive, this gave new meaning to the sketches and images she took along the way. She was grateful to have the opportunity to paint and celebrate the beautiful sites she had seen.
Into the Wild
March 31st 2021
Nic created the Into the Wild collection after a series of solo visits to the Victorian coastline. During a time of deep contemplation over her own art practice, how to survive as an artist and make it on her own, these solo explorations served as a reminder of her self-sufficiency and capability. Into the Wild represents the leap into the unknown, only to be caught by nature herself.
Just for Fun
December 2020
A playful collection, Just for Fun is a return to some of Nic’s favourite techniques, places and colours. After completing The Farm Series, Nic felt compelled to return to the basics and let herself create whatever came naturally – resulting in this collection of light, joyous and quintessential pieces.
Farm Series
October 2020
This collection features Nic’s family farm, Roseneath, located in the northeast of Victoria. Roseneath was her childhood home and has been in her family for three generations. She created these paintings during the isolation of the 2020 COVID-19 lockdowns. Missing her family deeply, she wanted to feel closer to home and so sought out connection to the farm through her work.
La Pachamama
October 2019
A bright and joyous collection from her trip to South America, La Pachamama celebrates Mother Earth in all her glory. Nic was particularly moved by the connection the locals had with the goddess La Pachamama, which sparked her imagination – envisioning the goddess as an artist who created landscapes by pouring paint onto the earth.
Weekly Wandering
August 2019
This collection began as a self-imposed challenge, to visit and paint a new location every week for 12 weeks. From the sketches and photographs Nic collected, she went back to the studio and created these full-size paintings. This series marks the beginning of Nic’s journey as a landscape artist and many things she learnt throughout this process she carries with her today.
